I've had some time to calm down from last night and reflect, but I've seen a lot of things about Hugh and his record...falling short of expectations, etc. I think it's wise to remember that a year one record means absolutely zilch in terms of how good a coach is or might be. Below are some examples of 1st year records of what I would think most people would think are or have been good coaches:

Dabo Swinney: 6-6
Gary Patterson: 6-6
Frank Beamer: 2-9
Kyle Whittingham: 7-5
Bobby Bowden: 5-6
Howard Schnellenberger: 5-6
Bob Stoops: 7-5
Mack Brown: 1-10
Brian Kelly: 4-7
Bill Snyder: 1-10
Steve Spurrier: 5-6
Bobby Dodd: 4-6
Johnny Majors: 3-7
Nick Saban: 7-6
Pat Dye: 5-6

Hugh won't be judged off of what AU did or didn't accomplish in year one of a rebuild. It sucked to watch us lose close to Bama and UGA, along with the inexplicable showing against NMST, but if anything history has proven that rebuilds are messy. It's not even the replacement of talent. It's the replacement of concept, chemistry, and cohesion. We'll be back sooner rather than later. The important thing to remember is that a year one record is pointless as are the games that occur in it. Terry Bowden went undefeated in his year one afterall and we all know how that turned out. We're killing it in recruiting and soon enough we'll be killing it on the field. I'm still hopeful, WDE.
