86 Days of The Sopranos
Season 6A, Episode 10: Moe n’ Joe

In our 86 Days of The Sopranos we’re up to Season 6A, Episode 10: Moe n’ Joe. Below are my impressions. Please provide your feedback in the replies, and try to avoid any big spoilers for those that are watching this iconic series for the first time…

** Johnny Sack is trying to work out a deal with the feds, but they want to take all of his assets. He sends his brother-in-law, Anthony, to ask Tony to help him sell a business that he’s a silent partner in.

** Vito, who is day drinking, admits to Jim he’s not a sportswriter. He tells him he’s from Jersey and has a contracting business and left his wife and kids. Jim says he could help Vito get a job as a handyman.

** Carmela asks Tony again about the building inspector for her spec house. He finally tells Sal to go over there and speak to the guy.

** Tony meets with Dr. Melfi and asks why he takes so much pleasure from shitting all over his sister and Bobby. Tony brings up an incident in his childhood when Janice recorded an argument between him and his other sister and held it over him for months.

** Vito helps the volunteer firemen cut a power line. He enjoys it but Jim resents him and questions his commitment. Vito wants to keep the party going that night and maybe do some gambling but they all turn in.

** Bobby makes a pickup in a rough part of town and gets mugged by some black youths. They take his gun and shoot the pavement right in front of his face injuring his eye.

** Tony meets with the two brothers-in-law that are business partners. One is ready to sell, the other is too stupid to realize who he’s dealing with and walks out in disgust.

** Tony meets with Dr. Melfi, who asks if Janice reminds him of anyone (his mother). Tony mentions that Janice took off first chance she got and he never would have done that. Tony: “Janice got laid. She took off. She laughed at all this shit. Then the trips over and she’s back and she’s one of us and she wants her piece. Well let me tell you, she gets nothing because I’ve got the scars. So it’s mine.”

** Vito fixes Jim a big Italian dinner and they express their love to each other. Next day, Vito continues to struggle with the mundane nature of small-town life and a construction job. The next morning he takes off back to New Jersey before Jim wakes up.

** Sack agrees to a deal that keeps him in prison for 15 years and leaves Ginny the house and some life insurance and retirement funds.

** Vito is drinking and slams into the back of a Jeep Wagoneer. The owner of the Jeep won’t take cash for the damage. Vito shoots the guy in the back and drives off.

** Tony doesn’t want to push the deal for Sack or get further involved, but after meeting with Anthony, says he’ll do it if Sack will sell his house in New Jersey to his sister for half price. Sack agrees, and later we see a very sad Ginny sitting down and listening as Janice and her agent walk through the house. At sentencing, Sack admits to the existence of the mob, which upsets the guys.

** After speaking to an upset Meadow (over Finn), Tony returns to the office and tells Silvio to drop the meeting with Carmela’s building inspector. He tells Carmela the meeting didn’t go well and suggests she sells. Carmela is pissed.

** Janice gives a heartfelt thank you to Tony and breaks down crying, which really irritates Tony. We fade to black to Let It Rock by Chuck Berry.
