So here’s the schedule. 3 cupcakes, nothing to say here. We should never lose to Ole Miss, Miss State and Arkansas. If we do, we all know the program is going down. Even Gus dominated those 3 teams. Our SEC east crossover is at S. Carolina, and their program is a total mess. Players and coaches jumping ship all over the place. And don’t forget, Gus lost his job because of the loss to S. Carolina last year and we should hold Brian Harsin to the same standard. That’s 7 wins that should happen.
7 we should win:
Akron
Alabama State
Georgia State
Miss State
Ole Miss
@ Arkansas
@ South Carolina
At minimum, one of these:
@ Penn State
@ Texas A&M
@ LSU
Home vs our Rivals:
Georgia
Alabama
Now let’s talk about Penn State, A&M & LSU. To go 8-4 we only have to win one of those 3. Now personally, there is no damn reason in the world not to win all 3. But, for Brian Harsin & staff to go 8-4 they only need one of those. LSU was a mess last year. We killed them. Miss State beat them. They got lucky with a thrown shoe against Florida. But it’s about damn time we win a game in Baton Rouge. aTm is considered a team on the rise and we’re considered a team on the decline. They are very beatable, and for some reason we’ve always played well there. A win against aTm will change a lot of minds about the future of the 2 teams. aTm is really a big game because of that perception. Penn State is a Big 10 school, and they’re used to a cushy Big 10 schedule. There’s no reason to not win all 3 but we really only need 1 for 8-4.
Now this 8-4 assumes losses to Georgia and Alabama. However, even Gus beat Alabama more often than not in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Most on the Bunker hated Gus because he couldn’t beat UGA very often. But we have UGA in Jordan-Hare, and if we don’t beat them this year, our chances in Athens next year will not be very good.
Gus was basically an 8-4 coach. We expected more from Gus and shouldn’t expect anything less than 8-4 with Brian Harsin. And looking at the schedule, that’s not that difficult of an accomplishment. This year in particular, it’s a reasonable bare minimum standard.
