Auburn had it's top two signees taken within the top 40 picks and both are expected to sign with the MLB clubs. Shortstop Colt Emerson was drafted by Seattle Mariners with the 22nd pick of the 1st round. The pick has a $3.5 million slot value. Second baseman Kevin McGonigle was selected by the Detroit Tigers with the 37th overall pick of the supplemental round. The pick has a $2.31 million slot value.
The draft continues with rounds 3-10 Monday at 1 p.m. CT and concludes with rounds 11-20 at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The key players to watch early tomorrow are RHP Joseph Gonzalez, and pitching signees Bjorn Johnson and Cameron Tilley. I'd expect all to be at Auburn next season unless they're selected in the 3rd round or early 4th. Transfer commitment Sam Mongelli is another to watch.
I also expect Cole Foster to be drafted tomorrow and possibly Bryson Ware and/or Chase Isbell.
