this guy updates his posts every year and keeps track of the stats that correlate the most to march madness success (got it wrong last year).
heres how to read the stats:
1.) 4seed or better
2.) KenPom ranking top 25
3.) Top 25 adjOff Kenpom
4.) Top 40 adjDef Kenpom
5.) 3pt > 35%
6.) Top 90 off rebounding
7.) Opp Two Point % <47%
8.) Opp FT rate <31%
9.) Frountcourt Player >12ppg
10.) 4 players averaging double figures
11.) Head coach has been to the Sweet 16
12.) Win regular season title or conference tournament
final four contenders typically reach 9/12 of these categories. most important ones being top25 kenpom, 4seed, top25 adjO, top 40 adjD, winning conf title

right now we're checking all the boxes except for the 4players in double figures (kessler close to fixing that), 3pt % (which is very borderline), and Opp FT rate (fouling too much)
also need to watch our OR%. it took a hit in that Saint Louis game big time and is close to falling out of range now
