Boston Globe admitting what many of us already knew...5 years later

Yet another example of the "big brains" being incapable of using them.

But while the impact of lockdown policies is still being studied, new research paints a troubling picture of the immense collateral damage inflicted by them.
The measures increased poverty and wealth disparities, spurred a dramatic rise in adolescent anxiety and depression, contributed to a surge in fatal drug overdoses, and led to devastating learning losses in schoolchildren, who have yet to recover, according to scientific studies. As of last spring, the average American student remained half a grade behind pre-pandemic levels in both math and reading, according to a recent report card on pandemic learning loss...

Those critical of lockdowns point to sobering data showing that, despite widespread school and business closures, the United States had among the worst mortality rates in the developed world during the pandemic...

The other problem with lockdowns, say many scientists, is they cannot be sustained indefinitely. And once they are lifted, people start interacting again and infections can spread rapidly. For instance, China’s abrupt decision in December 2022 to end its zero-COVID policy, which included stringent quarantines and lockdowns, led to a massive surge in hospitalizations and deaths in the following two months, according to a 2023 study in the medical journal JAMA...

Indeed, in October 2019, the World Health Organization analyzed a range of responses to past pandemics, including the 1918 “Spanish flu,” and recommended against forced quarantines of individuals or populations, saying there was “no obvious rationale” for such measures and they were impractical to implement.

All the things we told @Stumpfan would come from this dystopian approach. I hope you hold your head high knowing you blindly supported increased poverty, overdoses, anxiety, depression, and fatalities due to delayed or denied medical treatments, all while decreasing education in an already undereducated country. You, Fauci, and Biden are true heroes.

More fun trump / project 2025 stuff...

you guys sure you voted for this?

—USAID shutdown means a halt to many clinical trials around the world, crippling US efforts to investigate an Ebola outbreak in Uganda, and halting efforts to block malaria.

—PEPFAR, which has saved an estimated 25 million lives by distributing HIV drugs in Africa, is effectively frozen.

—Grants to the National Institutes of Health have effectively been ended.

— National Science Foundation’s budget to be cut from $9 billion to $3 billion. The agency may be facing layoffs of somewhere between a quarter to half of its workforce.

—Layoffs at CDC expected to run to 40 percent or more.

—Postdoctoral researchers are suddenly going unpaid. Some job offers are being withdrawn.

—Many NIH websites are AWOL. For example, the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health has vanished.

—Trump officials are blocking the publication of new research on bird flu.

—NOAA and the National Weather Service are reportedly full of “chaos and confusion” over whether they can work with other countries. Note: hurricanes and climate change do not respect national boundaries.

—The CDC has been blocked from working with the World Health Organization. Note: pandemics do not respect national boundaries.

—NASA staff were ordered to scrub their websites of mentions of women and indigenous people.

One thing older AU fans are going to have trouble with…

Is realizing that the guys on our roster are not at Auburn because they “love Auburn.” The guys who stay long enough may come to love Auburn, but coming in they are here because they’re playing minor league NFL and getting paid to do a job.

The days of Auburn Men on the football team are essentially dead as long as the transfer portal and NIL remain in their current capacity. Every single guy on our team is currently using their position to leverage more money, or look for somewhere else to go. Just have to accept that it’s where the sport is for the foreseeable future.

Michelle Tratchenberg has passed away.

Only 39 years old.

Those my age may know her from Pete and Pete or Harriet the Spy. Those younger may know her from Buffy or Gossip Girl.

Most will know her as the hot sister from EuroTrip.
