Freeze completely revamped the receiver room in one season. Is it possible he'll do it to the QB room too?

I don't pretend to know the answer. But it's what he'll need to do. Think it's clear the staff will not make the same mistake twice, and actually go after a transfer.

This team has a winning record with a mediocre QB. Like, Sean White (assuming he doesn't get injured) I think is a perfect example. He would have this team winning most of these close games. An elite QB would be even better of course. But the point is even just average would have Auburn winning a lot more games.

I am not blaming Thorne per say, because Freeze is the one that did not go after a transfer. Thorne plays to the best of his ability, but unfortunately he is just not a very good QB. Don't give AF what any stat nerd says, anyone actually watching these games can see Thorne routinely miss easy completions. And just constantly screw up when it matters. He is the opposite of a big play QB. He never makes big plays when it actually matters. And often makes game losing mistakes when Auburn can't afford it (pick six against Oklahoma).

And yes, there are other problems too. OL needs to get better too. The kicker is ass. But every team, even good ones, has issues. The thing holding this program back the most is the QB room right now.

Side note, surprised we haven't seen more of Brown. I know he played terrible against Arky, but Thorne has also played pretty terrible at times. Just surprised we haven't seen him worked in more. He did complete plenty of easy open passes, that's something Thorne failed a lot of today.

Hate on Hugh all you want but….

A lot of senior players are just terrible. Fairweather, Deal, Thorne, etc. are just not going to win you many games. No matter who is coaching them. A lot of this mess is still on Harsin quiet quitting while here. Young guys look pretty good. Keep recruiting and then fire Hugh after next year if they don’t start showing improvement. Hugh is a bit of a dipshit though.

What record would this team be with Sean White (minus the injuries)?

Point being, even a mediocre QB likely would have this team with easily a winning record.

I'm not scapegoating Thorne per say, because Freeze is the one who did not go after a transfer inexplicably. One of the strangest decisions we've seen from a Head Coach, grabbing a transfer seems like a no brainer. Even if just for the potential depth. Thorne is playing his best, but unfortunately his best is not very good.

Freeze has to turn this QB room around. And keep in mind, we don't even need an elite QB (although that'd be quite nice). Just need a QB that can make some plays here and there again. And hit targets that are wide open on a reasonably consistent basis.

Kind of surprised we haven't seen more Brown. Yeah I get he sucked it up against Arky. But it's not like the starter has been much better at times. He did complete wide open passes, which is better than Thorne did today.

Why

If the season is in the tank why do you continue to play Thorne? Not giving Brown an opportunity or exposing White to competition gets you nothing. All it means is you start the spring at zero. Then you have Duce coming in to the mix. Other teams start freshmen so why don’t we! Where is it written we can’t play one? Of course all the QBs need a coach and it’s apparently we don’t have one!

It Is Time For A Serious Conversation

I have supported Hew and the rebuild etc etc.. but this horrible time management, play calling and decision making is 100% on Hew. It’s bad enough he made the decision to roll with the worst quarterback in Auburn history, but to not even attempt to take full advantage of the few chances we do get is beyond asinine. Is it time for him to go? He’s no offensive genius of any kind in my book.
