Auburn University has expanded the Brewery Science program to include a Master’s of Science degree. Not only is it one of the first degrees of its kind, the program is also completely online.

I'm sure the original intent was harmless, perhaps driven in part by using the potent football brand as a gimmick to get fans to the less popular (back then, not now) basketball games.

But for my sporting money, there now needs to be a firm resolve for Auburn basketball, and all that surrounds it in Neville Arena, to be SOLELY about, well, Auburn basketball. Of course we all dig football, so there are exceptions like welcoming and introducing a new Auburn head football coach.

But the Foy Trophy (Iron Bowl winner) has become mostly laughable in my opinion, and when AU wins an Iron Bowl, the bammer douche canoe rarely sings our fight song. It's just outlived it's branding usefulness. And in the game at Coleman air hangar, the broadcasters surrendered 5-10 minutes of basketball air time to QB Jalen Milroe, and then to golfer Nick Dunlap (OK, his big cash-in).

That is all. Basketball has arrived in our state, especially in the Neville. Start acting like it.

I saw where someone earlier offered a discount to the bunker on a beach house rental.

I have a beach house at Laguna Beach (across from the quiet and never crowded preserved beach) a few blocks from Thomas’ Donuts. It’s a 2 story house with 3 large bedrooms and 3 large baths and a pool. Sleeps 10 comfortably. We are 50 steps to the sand.

We do not put it on any rental sites, just for friends and family at very low rates. However, my wife and I, nor our kids, can go down like we used to, so we have some weeks open in March, April, May, August and the fall if you are a Bunker member.

We rent it for $3,500 per week in June and July and $2,000 - $3,000 per week in March, April and May, depending on which week. In the fall and winter it’s $1200-$1500 per week. That’s about half price of the surrounding houses that are on rental programs. I think there’s one week left this summer (June 15-22)

Interesting stats from Evan Miya (click the picture to make it bigger). This graph shows each team's most impactful player and 7th most impactful player, according to Bayesian Performance Rating at EvanMiya.com (top 40 NET teams). I think it makes sense that Auburn has such a narrow range. I would be interested to see this same graph if it went 1-10. I'm betting we probably have the most impactful players 7-10, or close to it.

The funding partner for Trump Media & Technology Group said it has received regulatory approval from securities regulators that will allow it to proceed with a long-delayed merger. The combination could provide former President Donald Trump with a stake worth almost $4 billion.

Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC), a so-called special-purpose acquisition company, said Thursday in a statement that the Securities and Exchange Commission had signed off on its proposed merger with Trump Media. DWAC said it plans to announce within two days a date for shareholders to vote on the deal

Bruce Pearl spoke to the media Friday afternoon to preview Saturday's game against Kentucky. Here's a summary...

** You can feel the energy on campus. College Gameday is here. There's 1,000 students camping out. And it's the AUTLIVE game. Will have prostate cancer screening before game. Encourages everyone to buy a t-shirt.

** Kentucky is one of best offensive teams in the country. Five guys average double-digits. Several are expected to be drafted. Protect the rim well. We struggled against Florida's length. Best 3-point shooting team Coach Cal has had at UK.

** We've worked hard to be in this position.

** Kentucky is still the gold standard in our league. If you want to be relevant in the SEC, you've got to beat UK.

** Asked if he ever camped out before, Pearl said he used to camp out with his family as a kid. Hasn't ever camped out for a game.

** Made the tough shots against USC. The tough shots are in the first 10 mins of both halves. AU really shared the ball well against USC.

** You have to worry about long shots, long rebounds and how good UK is in transition.

** Antonio Reeves has always killed us. He's a big, long, physical guard that can really shoot it. Talks about how good all of UK's guards are and how tough they are to defend.

** No question UK is going to play with a lot of energy tomorrow. Last game against Ole Miss was first time they had everybody back healthy. Nobody wants to play UK in the Tournament.

** Denver is a very versatile guard. We'll see if he gets another look at PG going forward.

** UK actually plays better on the road. A lot of pressure to win at home. They've shot it well on the road. They've got the kind of talent that can be fearless.

This young lady needed 8 points tonight to set the all-time scoring record for women's college basketball and she ended up with 49. I have a hard time watching women's basketball unless we are playing but she is just fun to watch. Like Steph in his heyday.
