HOOPS Bruce Pearl quick notes (2/27)...

Bruce Pearl is speaking to the media Tuesday morning to preview Wednesday night's game at Tennessee. Here's a recap...

** Pearl said tomorrow is advocacy day to protect IVF. Steven Pearl and his wife have been involved with IVF for a couple of years trying to start a family. It's been a private matter but we've decided to speak out. It's been a difficult process. Because of what's gone on with the Alabama Supreme Court not understanding that IVF is about creating life. Pearl is calling on all three branches of the state government to make Alabama tho most pro-family state in the country. Government is supposed to help families. The group is meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on steps at state capital. Pearl would be there if he wasn't traveling with team to Knoxville.

** It's almost March and we're still playing for a championship. Not many teams can say that. UT is best team in league. They can shoot and have guys that can protect the rim. One of best defensive teams in country. It was a 46-45 rock fight last time we went up there.

** Dalton Knecht is going to get his, you just don't want him to go off. He can do it all on both ends of floor. He's a matchup problem. One of biggest guards our guards will face and one of the most athletic forwards our forwards will face. They've got great pieces around him.

** Jaylin Williams will travel. It's possible he could play tomorrow. He moved around better yesterday than we thought he would. Will be game-time decision.

** Aden Holloway did great at UGA. UT's older, more experienced guards are going to be all over him and make his looks difficult. Proud of him for staying in the fight. He knows his teammates and coaches never stopped believing in him.

** Chad Baker-Mazara is clearly one of our top three players and he was the best player on the floor at UGA. He's a playmaker, smart defender, plays hard and is a great locker room glue guy. CBM is on the list of the best players you've never heard of from a national perspective.

** UT is a great transition team. Get great looks and 3-point shots out of their defense.

** Coach Rick Barnes is a Hall of Fame coach. He continues to be one of the best in college basketball.

*****THAT'S ALL*****

FOOTBALL Practice notes (2/27/24)

Hello, Spring Practice!

We were able to see 20 minutes or so of today's opening practice. While we didn't see much, here are some observations:

OFFENSE

- Payton Thorne was taking first snaps with Jarquez Hunter, while Holden Geriner followed with Damari Alston. Hank Brown was third. Nothing really stood out except Holden and Walker White missed a couple of throws. For White, it could be first-practice jitters.
- Caleb Burton made a good catch on the sidelines. He followed Koy Moore in drills, who was then followed by Jay Fair, Camden Brown, Dylan Gentry, Bryce Cain, Camden Brown, Cam'Ron King, Colby Stafford and Robert Lewis.
- White looks like an SEC quarterback in build.
- Percy Lewis, new offensive tackle from Mississippi State is a huge man.
- Coleman stands out above all the other receivers in height. He's college-ready.

DEFENSE

- Josh Aldridge and Vontrell King-Williams were working with defensive ends/tackles and the JACK linebackers. Among those JACKs was freshman Joe Phillips. He also was working at DE.
- King-Williams is very vocal. If someone doesn't do a drill right, they must do it again. Typical first-day stuff. But he would find one detail that every player needed to work on.
- Keldric Faulk looks really big. A stud and had some good reps.
- DJ Durkin was working directly with the linebackers while Crime is working with cornerbacks. Charles Kelly was working with safeties.
- Terrence Love has put on some muscle as has Champ Anthony.

Economists predict much stronger growth in 2024.

So where is this recession that @Eagle was predicting? Or @aler is this just the NABE just trying to get Biden re elected? lol
