This team completely overlooked Yale. Just like me.

I recall a point in the game close to half-time, I believe Yale had cut the lead to 4 at that point in the game, and Broome and KD were on the floor talking and laughing with one another, with seemingly not a care in the world.

It stood out to me that they were so worry-free at that point in the game, as if the outcome were a foregone conclusion.

We needed our veterans to step up and set a tone... and it never got set.

We beat Yale 19 out of 20 times if we play with the right attitude.... what's sad is, that is a decision.

Yes... I was overconfident.... but don't I have that fcking right to expect my team to fcking SHOW UP FOR THE GAME?

the one thing we couldn’t afford to do today was be dumb

and we did it out of the gate. Reflecting a little on our good play down the stretch was CBM and his ability to gird our average PG play. I view him as really a second point guard on the floor. He really helps move the ball around and setup Holloway for his shots. When he went out Yale did an outstanding job of isolating our PGs and making it look easy.

And then Chuck 😩. Putting the killer jinx on us with his unlit cigar. Oh well, i am a lot better at getting over losses. I think Gus’s tenure helped me with that.

Peace and love homies.

We didn't play well enough to win, BUT....

there were things in this game, that were just like "destiny" that we were NOT gonna win this game. to wit:

- CBM being a moron, and costing his team. We lost his probable 15+ points against these short white guys. He was THE mismatch of the game, IMO. A flagrant two "actually" called? That's highly unusual. Especially in the tourney.
- Our BEST FT shooters (80%+) missing 6 free throws in the last minute. Not normal at all.
- The refs CLEARLY were not used to a rough team like AU. They were a touch foul calling crew. Yale was so small and weak, that just basic hard touches that we are used to, just knocked them down, drawing the fouls. Plus, they had preconceived ideas about AU, and then CBM goes and reinforces it.
- Yale has a kid that averages 11 points a game and 2 3's a game, go off and hit 29 points. MANY while completely covered up. Unreal.
- Too many turnovers vs this "type" of team with few real athletes. Just didn't value the ball enough. That's not "normal" for us. Especially against a team with no length.

Omit ANY one of those items and we win. Unreal.

All in all, it was just a situation where everything bad that could happen, happened. Pearl MUST, REPEAT MUST, find us some damn 6'-3" shooting guards that are CONSISTENT 40% shooters. They are out there. Go get the MF's. Having to replace both 5's, the top 4, and two 3's, is gonna be a big deal to try to find elite players. We need 3 stars and then 3 top role players all from the portal. Not seeing anyone that fills those spots so far on the portal trail. Then add in another true frosh at PG. Ugly.

This is the worse I've felt since the Virginia game........

Feels like it's going to be impossible to ever win a Championship. It just takes a ton of luck to win the Tourney. This is a team that was good enough to at least be in the Sweet 16. Just everything that could go wrong did. Nothing went our way. I honestly feel like Auburn sports are cursed. It's gotten to a point where it doesn't feel like there's a pay off anymore. Been a shitty week. I have to quit looking towards Auburn as a pick me up when it's been a tough one. They don't come through anymore.
