i think it’s possible (probable?). I know we have had a lot of threads like this but with Deuce now flirting with Ole Miss you have to start to wonder. This season was the proof of concept season that was forecasted to see AU scrape together 7 wins and play in a crappy bowl game. Both gone. 4-8 with a pretty much incompetent offense can’t be exciting to recruits along with a more and more seemingly basket case head coach. Auburn once again finds itself in yet another probable dead end with the head coach once again being the weakest link.

And if you want to know the real reason we have been getting beat on the field. It is because we have been getting beaten badly in recruiting for years. It will take a minute, but this class should start to turn things around. Teams with elite talent are easier to coach. Or so I have been told.

We're set to talk to BP as he previews North Alabama among other things:

• Bruce opens talking about how good of a shooting team they are; they're shooting 42% from deep, so.
• They average about 12-13 forced turnovers per game and also don't turn it over
• Asked if Jahki and Ja'Heim will play Monday: "They're at practice today."
• On taking teams seriously: "If we had any letdown it might have been @ App State. That was one of the few times in the last several years where we got beat when we were supposed to win that game. And I think the returning guys recognized that... we respect our opponents. It happens to us less because we have respect for our opponents."
• Pearl also added they prepped harder for Vermont than they did for Houston
• "My thinking originally bringing a freshman in is, alright, what position is he going to be most effective at." He added that he initially thought it'd be easier for him to be a scorer but he's too good with the ball in his hands to take the ball out of his hands.
• Speeding UNA up: "You have to be able to win at a fast pace and have to be able win at a slower pace."

Couple of things that stood out.

• PT was just off. Even some of the caught balls were placed poorly. His completion percentage wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t throwing anything deep. But making WRs turn backwards to get the ball, those kind of things shorten yards. He personally ended 4 of the 12 drives with bad passes to open receivers. He’s had some decent games this year – this was not one of them. He also seems to have the Jared Stidham factor, where accuracy drops as the play gets more important.
• Fairweather runs great, but he was 0-2 on contested balls, and also gave up a fumble where he really wasn’t making much effort to protect it. Fairweather ended 3 drives by not making contested catches (2) and fumbling (1).
• We missed 2 FGs, and passed on a 3rd FG because we didn’t have confidence that TM could hit a 48 yarder. For all the stupidity of this game, we would have won if we had a reliable FG kicker.
• Defense was very good. 5 players really stood out: Faulk, Crawford, Harris, Riddick, Blockton. You could argue that Lee stood out because they never threw at him. What do all 6 of those guys have in common? FR/SO. Crawford plays a lot like Richard Sherman, with his hands and how he leans on the WR.
• Special teams – already mentioned TM, but we gave up a long punt return, had zero good punt returns, let the punt hit the ground more than once on very catchable balls… Need a new corch.
• And I know how this one is going to come off. So be it. Last play of the first quarter. Please, go watch it. Watch Izavion Miller specifically, and tell me how, HOW, was there a hold. He literally chipped a guy and fell down, and was called for holding. I’ve seen holding, from blatant to ticky-tack. I played OT. I know what holding is. He barely brushed a guy, and did not extend his hands and did not grab at all. Seriously. Go watch the play. Last play of the first Q. AU had gotten across midfield on a big play, and the ref went for his flag very early in the play. There was no hold. There was almost no contact. It wasn’t a judgement call. It simply did not exist. I watched the TE and RG to see if they called the wrong number. Nope, 100% phantom hold to end a drive. That was as bad as I’ve ever seen, right up there with the non-TD up in Nashville about 20 years ago. There. Was. No. Hold. At. All.
• Building on 6. Lew got a ticky-tack holding call just before the half that killed a drive. Even the announcers said it was weak. In the 2nd half Faulk gets pulled down by his jersey on a Pavia scramble – no call. Then, with the game over, 2 minutes left, holding – Vandy. And the stat-line looks even. Also missed a facemask of Damari turning the corner. And a punt where the Vandy player caught the ball, fell into the end zone, and set the ball back outside; called down on the 2. Outside of Iron Bowls, that game had a couple of the most disastrous calls I've seen, all in one direction.
• Wright and Miller cannot pass block. Both Seniors, all gone in 15 days. Props to Joiner, though, he’s improving weekly

One offs:

• Connor Lew is a beast, regardless of that ticky-tack hold that would never be called on uat/uga.
• Dillon Wade is a better tackle than guard. I don’t care if he’s only 6-3 and barely 300.
• Luke Deal is an awesome dude, but his run blocking is a dumpster fire.
• We have a G5 LB room, at least JR/Srs
• Stupid trick play was stupid. Also, stupid.

I know there was some chatter earlier in the season about ULM being good, but they look pretty mid on tape.

Of course, Auburn has seen some struggles of its own this season. (That's putting it mildly.)

With that said, the Tigers really should be a lot better than ULM on Saturday.

Many props to Coach Clinard and staff on signing the #1, #13, and #31 ranked players in the country. ($1 to augolf1). This is AUsome, and the women's program is in great shape too!!!

I have been listening to some CFB podcasts, and it seems there are question marks on many teams outside of maybe 4-8 teams nationally.

I think its fair to say that QB play is the biggest factor for Auburn if they want to overachieve. Im interested in what you think is concerning after that.

Depth seems to be somewhat answered. And depth is an issue that I think 98% of the CFB deals with. There are probably 1-2 teams that feel decent about depth throughout the roster.


My 2nd biggest concern is playcalling. Hard to imagine it being bad but can it take a big step forward? Can HEW balance his time with recruiting, head coaching, and now running the offense?

Auburn ranked 117th in the NCAA last year in 3rd down conversions. Does a playcaller moves that 32% number to an area closer to 40%.


My 3rd biggest concern is run-stopping. I am probably much higher on the DL than most, but I don't know if we have a truly dominant player in the middle. I like the options. But I dont' know if we have a group that can set the tone for a game.

Interestingly, Auburn had a pretty dominant 3rd down defense in 2023 in spite of ranking near the bottom of the conference in rushing allowed.

Auburn men's golf head coach Nick Clinard announced the signing of three student-athletes set to join the program at the start of the 2025-26 season Wednesday.

Joining the upcoming roster are Jake Albert, Logan Reilly and Jack Roberts. Albert comes to The Plains from Blacksburg, Virginia. Reilly hails from Lovettsville, Virginia. Roberts is a native of Saint Marys, Georgia.

“I would like to thank coach Chris Williams for his tireless efforts in developing relationships and recruiting Jack, Logan and Jake,” Clinard said. “These young men are outstanding additions to the Auburn program and will be tremendous assets in our quest to continue to win championships. They come from wonderful families, are very athletic, and have incredible work ethics. Both coach Williams and I are extremely excited about this class. They will bring an immediate impact to the roster.”
