FORT WORTH, Texas – Auburn men's golf freshman Jackson Koivun has been chosen as one of the three finalists for the 2024 Ben Hogan Award presented by PNC Bank, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday.

The other finalists for this year's trophy are Christo Lamprecht of Georgia Tech and Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt. Koivun is the lone underclassman.

The Hogan foundation will announce its 2024 winner the evening of Monday, May 20. Timing as well as a live stream link will be released closer to time.

Since 2002, the Ben Hogan Award annually honors the top men's NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA or NJCAA college golfer based on all collegiate, amateur and professional events over the previous 12 months. An esteemed selection committee votes during each stage of the process. The selection committee is comprised of more than 30 leaders in collegiate, amateur and professional golf.

Will Blackmon (1994) is Auburn’s only previous Hogan Award recipient. Ludvig Aberg of Texas Tech is the reigning winner. He won back-to-back in 2022 and 2023. Tigers assistant coach Chris Williams received the Hogan in 2013.

Nearing the end of his first season as a collegiate player, Koivun has padded his resumé with two wins and nine top-five finishes, including the last eight consecutive tournaments. Koivun’s most convincing win came at the 2024 SEC Championship where he carded three straight 66s to finish at 12-under and capture medalist honors by six shots. He became Auburn’s first individual champion since 2019 and the program’s first to accomplish the feat as a rookie. He also went 3-0 match play at the SEC Championship to lead Auburn to its fifth conference crown.

Koivun and company are set to return to action May 13-15 at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional hosted by LSU’s University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Three rounds of stroke play will determine the regional’s top five teams who will advance to the 2024 NCAA Championship.
